Innovation in Central Europe: prospects for cooperation

NE100 Team

BACKGROUND

A quarter century after democracy returned to Central and Eastern Europe, the Visegrad Group could be defined as a region of innovation, with high economic growth, with new businesses and start-ups taking local success to global markets. However, to achieve a sustainable innovation-driven growth, real changes in the public and private sectors are needed; a new framework has to be set. This is also a very high priority on the Austrian agenda – to accelerate the economic growth and to support enterpreneurship and innovative technologies. The workshop aims to discuss prospects for regional cooperation on this goal within Central Europe. Is there a potential for coordinated action? Can such cooperation attract investments? Can the Central Europeans share ideas, best practices, or develop together relevant recommendations? Is there a possibility for a regional view on the respective EU agenda? How to create on the regional and European level an innovation-friendly environment that makes it easier for great ideas to be turned into products and services that will bring our economies growth and jobs?
